McDonalds Testing the McApp

If only there were a way to make fast food even fatter – er – I mean faster. News from Down Under is that McDonald’s is reviewing the results of a mobile app test that would do just that. Here’s the skinny:

The Herald Sun is reporting a pilot app has been trialled in two Australian stores and McDonald’s is reviewing the results. McDonald’s Australia spokeswoman Skye Oxenham said it was too early to say if it would be introduced across all stores.

If the system could be dovetailed with over-the-counter service, Australia would be the first country to introduce it, Oxenham said.

But health experts fear the app could make fast food seem too readily accessible.

One would assume that this test involved a significant in-the-wild component, as the performance of the app was presumably location-specific. In any event, we’ll keep an eye on this one. If it makes ordering a McRib easier, I’m all for it.
